This is Part 4 of the series of other construction updates in the city. All of these developments have not been mentioned in previous posts. First up is the Nazareth Tourist Inn shown above. This 5-storey edifice is located near the junction of 21st and 27th streets in Nazareth, Cagayan de Oro City. Progress work is currently on the 4th floor.

A second building is now rising beside the Limketkai Gateway structure. I think this is not the so-called LKK Gateway Tower 2 because it will only be 4 storeys high perhaps so as not to obstruct the sunset view of the Tower 1 tenants.

A formal ground breaking will be held today, October 31, 2009 at 3:00 PM for the “Santuario Do Redentor” or Shrine of the Redeemer at the Golden Haven Memorial Park at Bulua, Cagayan de Oro City. The giant statue of Christ the Redeemer in the center hill of the park is the focal point of the project. Set to be situated on the highest point of the property, Christ the Redeemer is seen to embrace the western section of Cagayan de Oro City. The occasion is timely for the All-Saints and All-Soul’s Day Holidays where people are expected to flock to cemeteries to pay respects to their loved ones.

Northern Mindanao continues to attain economic growth after the region posted a P8.31 billion in investment.
Records obtained from the Northern Mindanao office of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) showed the huge investments were posted by the 3,846 cooperatives organized in various areas of the region.

Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Tinnex Jaraula, Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairman Emmanuel Y. Angeles and City Councilor and Education Committee Chairman Atty. Adrian Barba formally enter into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on October 24, allowing CHED to use the city-owned 841 square meter lot at Hayes Street as its regional office. Diamond Millenium Corporation represented by Lorenzo U. Limketkai is planning to open a PAGCOR e-Games Station at the Rosario Arcade, Limketkai Complex, Cagayan de Oro City. Once approved by the city, this will be the second e-games cafe in the city, the first being located at the Ground Floor of Tagbuan Grill along Captain Vicente Roa Extension.

The flood event in January of this year forced the Pelaez Group to revise their planned Paseo del Rio Complex near Kagay-an Bridge. Still, the main attraction of the complex which is the Business Hotel and Convention Center remains.

The DPWH has started the second Bulua-Iponan Bridge, which is a section of the Access Road of the Cagayan de Oro 3rd Bridge (Kauswagan-Puntod) Project. Concrete piles have been driven to the riverbed as shown in the photo above taken from Barra, Opol side of the river.

PHILIPPINE SEVEN Corp., holder of the local 7-Eleven franchise, recently launched a partnership with Chevron Philippines, Inc. by opening up the first 7-Eleven store within a Caltex station in Makati branch. Chevron is the owner of the Caltex oil brand. By the end of the year, 21 7-Eleven convenience stores will be operational in Caltex retail stations in Metro Manila, eventually phasing out the Star Mart brand.

The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) in Region 10 is putting up a community frequency modulated (FM) radio station in Cagayan de Oro City. This was announced by CDA 10 Regional Director Orlando Ravanera during the cooperative pre-membership education seminar (PMES) for the members of the Population and Development Press Corps of Cagayan de Oro City (PDPC-CDO), very recently. Aimed at boosting the information, education, communication and advocacy efforts of CDA-registered cooperatives in the region, the said FM radio station shall be housed at the soon-to-be constructed Regional Cooperative Training Center here in the city.
